Tracon,

Did you weigh your plane before the motor and battery installation? I've weighed most of the kit as shipped and it's right around 4.5 pounds. Motor/esc/radio gear should add another 1.5 pounds. I'm not criticizing your power package, in fact I love to overpower everything too. It's just that for this plane I'm trying to keep costs down. I'm trying to put something together based on your 9.9 pound weight and for the cost involved it's just not going to happen. I need to keep the weight down so I can use some of the stuff that I already have. $250.00 for batteries, $200.00 for a charger for that battery, yet another motor and ESC.......Too much to spend on a $100.00 plane. I guess what I need to ask is this...Do you think it would have flown well on a lesser/lighter motor/battery combo than what you used?
Thanks!

Joe

It might. but I know in tall grass I needed the power and the flaps to take off...

This isn't a cheap hobby and i really didn't know what to expect from this plane....it's just plain HEAVY !!!
