I bought this radio for my RC8 about two weeks ago. Took the RC8 to practice at the track and it did fine. The next weekend I took it to the race. During practice the car went to wide open from about a quarter throttle. Eventually flipping over a seizing the engine. When I picked up the car, it seemed to be connected to the radio. Everything was working. Checked out the car and the throttle servo, linkage, and carburetor were all working properly. Once again, I don't suspect these components as the car accelerated to full throttle. Therefore, I'm thinking the radio/receiver caused the problem. by the way, the fail safe was set properly.
The only thing I found was that the battery switch (Airtronics item) seemed to be slightly loose but was properly plugged into the battery. I've also notice with this radio that when I turn on the battery switch, the throttle servo cranks wide open until the receiver and radio make the link (connect). What's the deal with this? Doesn't it seem like it should go straight into fail safe when it's turned on? One of my scenarios about how this happen is that there was an intermittent power problem and the receiver cranked the servo open. My second guess is that i have a bad radio.
Any information about the MX-3FHSS regarding this issue would be appreciated. Is there another spread spectrum radio out there that doesn't do this? I'm thinking me and Airtronics are parting ways.
PS. My receiver battery is brand new 1600 Mah and was charged for 24 hours on a peak charge just before this happened. Sevos are operating in the normal direct (not reversed).
I've herd other people had same problems with their MX-3FHSS.Thats the reson im sticking with my MX-3-S i have no complaints.
