The Army Wants You...
Hey folks, I'm going to go somewhat "off thread" here. Taildraggin said he was a former FMF Corpsman who served in 'Nam. What that means is that he was a Navy Medic who served with FMF Marines in combat. FMF means Fleet Marine Force.
As a rule there is no love lost between Marines and Sailors, but a Navy Corpsman is a distinctly different breed of cat. He's in the Navy, but not quiet a sailor. He's also in the Marines, but not quiet a Marine. He is both, and a member of one of the most respected bunch of guys in the Naval Service, especially to all us Marines.
In Korea our Corpsman was killed by a Chinese machine gunner while dragging a wounded member of my squad to safety. We just didn't loose a Corpsman, we lost a member of our "family."
"Taildraggin" Today I hoist a glass of suds and say to you what I never got a chance to say to Doc Sutton in Korea, you're one of the greatest! Semper Fi !
