Default Cheap easy brake solution? What do you think?

Guys,
Have a look at the diagram I have done below. It shows (sort of) the throttle/brake assembly on my Monster Pirate.
My question is this. At the moment my brake linkage is on the furthest hole on the servo arm as shown.
Now I didn't do advanced maths mechanics, but my theory is that because the power being applied is on the fulcrum (top of servo) that by moving the linkage to the inner most hole on the servo arm (where the dotted line is), I will lose a bit of speed on the brake, but gain more mechanical advantage and hence more braking power from the servo.
I cannot extend the lever at the end of the linkage as it would foul the spur gear.
Do you think this will work?
