RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
I just got back from the field. There should be some video in the next day or two. A buddy of mine is working on it!
I am almost speachless. That plane is a confidence builder! It tracked straight down the runway and gently into the air. The nervousness was gone very quickly. I even got in a little knife edge flight. You will notice in the video, when it gets on here, that the plane reacted very strange in left to right knife edge flight. After my third flight of the day, I realized why. Most of the radio program was copied from the program I use for my Cap. As many of you know, Caps can require a lot of mixes. After copying the program, I erased all the mixes,... or so I thought. Not sure if my right to left kife edge pass was captured or not, but it flew that nearly hands off, so I knew something was amiss, on my end, for going in the opposite direction.
You will also notice that my Brison 52CC didn't seem to have a lot of pull. The engine manufacturer calls out a prop that spins in the 6500-7500RPM range. I thought I could get away with a 23X8, but it was a little too much, only reaching 5800RPM. I had hoped my new props would be here in time for the first flight, but they weren't. When I got home, my package of 22X8 and 22X10 props was sitting on the table. Maybe I can get out tomorrow to try them.
The only real problem I had with the plane was with the black stripes. Even after ironing them down, the clear coating was pealing off of them. I don't think they are Ultacote like the rest of the plane. Seemed more like Chinacote. I can replace them easily, so no biggie. All in all, I am very happy with this new addition to my hangar! Thanks Tom!!!
