I'm sorry to hear of your problem. Did you plug your main flight battery directly into the receiver?

Receivers and servos are normally designed to operate on 4.8-6.0 volts. This applies to non-Spektrum receivers as well. The BEC in the speed controller regulates the voltage from the flight battery down to a level that is safe for the receiver.
