am transmits information by varying the amplitude of the carrier signal
it is very susceptible to interference from outside sources

fm transmits information by varying the frequency of the carrier signal
this system is less susceptible to interference than am

dss transmits information by constant frequency hopping on extremely high frequencies (2.4ghz)
it is extremely resistant to most kinds of interference

in order (from worst to best) it goes am, fm, dss
dss systems have come down a lot in price so, if you can afford one, get dss
