For safety's sake I won't allow someone to just hold on to my plane. I insist that they stand in front of the stabs or that the plane is secured in some other way. I have seen people be inattentive, if the engine were to start at full throttle it could easily get away if the holder is not extecting it.

I value my kneecaps too much to take a chance.

Another thing that scares me is when people kneel down or sit in front of the plane while starting it. That makes them helpless to get out of the way.
