Thunder Tiger Stick
Well, it's been a number of years since I pulled this one out of the box. When I did I remember that about 10 years ago I screwed up drilling the wing bolt holes and offset them about 1/8". So I called Ace, the distributor yesterday, to see if they had a set of wings in stock - to replace mine. Needless to say, I'm not impressed in the least . . .
They admit the TT Stick is out of production, but they happen to have a set of wings left from the final run. At first they couldn't tell me what store had them still in stock and stated that they couldn't sell direct to the public. Then after a few minutes I convinced them that I'd rather not throw out a whole plane and would simply appreciate it if they could sell me a set directly.
Get this, they finally came around for a price of $75.00 - for the wings alone. I brought up the fact several times that the kit was OOP, not available in stores (by their own admission), a new Stick (by a different manufacturer) could be found for around $100 ($30 more for a complete airplane), and parts for those planes are still in production. Well, after 20 minutes on the phone and a 15 minute wait for a call back, they told me I "could have them for $69.99".
What a bargin eh?
I told him I might try to call him back Monday, but considering I can get a better product, new, for around $100 - not sure if I'll be making the phone call.
