Default RE: KMP Beaver composite wings version

I have the earlier version with built-up flying surfaces and a GRP fuselage. I bought it recently, second hand and already flown. I installed an MVVS 26 gas engine, which flies it well on an 18x6 Menz. Take-offs were 'interesting' until we applied a couple of degrees of toe-out to the main gear. Flying requires a fair bit of rudder to make smooth turns. Looks great in the air. Can't tell you anything about the floats as mine has conventional gear only, but all the fitting points for the floats are in the fuselage, and there are supposed to be 88,000 lakes in Finland...

The only negative thing I can report is that access to the fuselage is quite restricted, the only hatch is that above the wing, which makes installing the ignition gear & battery just behind the firewall an exercise in frustration unless you have a helper with small hands.

If the all-composite version ever becomes available in this corner of northern Europe, I'd seriously consider buying it.

Hope this helps,
