As some of you know I crash a lot. My blade 400 has a bad stock gyro now (9 hard crashes in 4 months) and I think the gyro is bad. I spool up the heli to about mid throttle and the tail jumps left/right about 2-3 inches in both directions. It is worse in HH mode over rate mode. I tried a different servo and the same thing. The heli actually crashed when it did 2 piros with no rudder inputs and I lost orientation!
I think the gyro is bad due to this action. I have held the heli in one hand and spooled it up and the tail servo just twitches constantly about 25% throttle.
I can get the stock gyro for $60 and the futaba 401 for $140. Suggestions on what to do? I plan in the next year or so to get something a bit bigger, so a 401 could go to the new bird, but is the extra money worth it? I like the stock gyro, I have been happy with it in the long run, but I am open to any other suggestions too.
