Very true, Dar. The other day there was a bidding war over an FP .20. It sold for around $125! For a lowly FP .20! I often see Super Tigre .40's sell for more than $50 when most hobby shops sell them for $49.99 new w/warranties. Cox stuff has gotten insane, especially the old grey props.
I get a lot of pleasure and reward out of cleaning up old engines and replacing the bearings, rings, gaskets, etc. I enjoy it as much as building. Once in a while I'll end up spending enough on new parts to almost pay for a NIB example. That's rare, but since half the fun is fixing them up, it's like another facet of the hobby for me. I mean, scratch building from plans can often cost more than a shiny new ARF, but you get what you pay for, right?
