Default SH .28 Trouble

Starting the .28 has given me trouble from the beginning. The starter cord broke in the 3rd week so I replaced it with a roto start. It was the CEN starter spur gear and a hitech gear and backplate. (CEN does not sell a roto start system for the .28). It worked for 2 weeks and now I can't even get the engine to pop. The fuel is pumping, the glow plug glowing, airflow is good. It turns for a few seconds then the one way bearing fails and it doesn't turn for few seconds, then turns again. But I should a least get an ignition or two but its quiet.

Should I just give up on this engine or should I go searching, yet again, for a backplate and large flywheel to bump box start it?

Thanks.

Its a great engine: when its running.
