Default RE: .46 engine too much for GP Dazzler?

It's an oversimplification to say, "just ease back on the throttle stick" when it comes to outfitting a new airframe. Which engine you select will significantly affect overall weight, wing loading, maximum flight times, lateral balance, and Center of Gravity.

Too many pilots install the biggest engine they can fit onto an airframe and then wonder why their planes won't slow down for landing or why their landing gear blocks break out so easily. A larger engine is too often the solution to a problem that would have been better fixed by a change of prop and/or some additional fine tuning of the carburetor needles.

The .46 NT is a good choice for the Dazzler .40 kit, but the .36 NT would make your Dazzler a full quarter of a pound lighter in weight. If you want an easy-to-land aerobat that will float down to land, the .36 NT is a better option. If you want to practice hovering and need extra power to punch straight up, the .46 NT is a better option even though it will land heavier.
