RE: .46 engine too much for GP Dazzler?
Hi everybody,
As always, thanks for the replies. The only reason I was thinking about using the .46 was because 1.) it is the smallest engine that I have and 2.) it needs a home. I have no problem buying a smaller engine for the plane. I do agree that some people oversize the engine for their planes and it gets them into trouble. I read somewhere that a hot .40 would be great for the Dazzler. I figure that I could run the .46 a little rich to keep it from overpowering the airframe. I am not one who tries to squeeze out every last rpm from the engine and would rather run a larger engine richer and have it last longer than stress out a smaller engine. Of course, that line of thinking could change in the future. I have a OS 160 2s in an Ultra Sport 1000 that I usually fly at 1/2 throttle but there are times that I like to pull back on the elevator and go WOT and watch it climb. The coolest part is watching the long stream of exhaust coming from the engine and then smelling the glow fuel fumes.
Happy Flying!
