There are several 'services' in the 40 Mhz range in the USA. Because of that, it's use for R/C'ing is not legal, and not too smart, depending on what's in use around you. For instance, some 'baby-monitors' are in the 40 Mgz range. Not too sure that would be the 'best' sort of interference in the world (either way

). Also some of the older 'cordless phones'. There are a few Part-97 devices, low power, have to accept any interference received type thingys around too. No idea if the 'Rat Shack' does that or not, but probably. The 40 Mhz radios are not the 'best' option here in the USA. Doesn't say anything about if they're any good or not, just not the best option.
