RE: Engine Options around 35-40cc for 1/4 scale T-Craft
A 35-45cc engine is a really good zone especially if you are thinking of adding a smoke system. Rcpilot is right on when he takes about uplines and loops from level.
Getting a larger cc will not make the plane fly faster due to the wing area and drag of the body etc. However more cc will allow you to do more when you want change attitudes with authority.
The Lanier Taylorcraft is a great flyer. You will certainly enjoy its performance. I had the Hangar Taylorcraft. It was one of my favourite airplanes. Spectators love the looks of it. Mine had a 26cc and I wish that I had installed a larger cc engine. Not for speed but for the uplines and those gentle vertical corkskews...ahhhhh..
Look at the RCGF 45cc. I am going to put this one into my KMP Citabria (101"). The plane will come in at about 13-14 pounds all up weight. But I am looking forward to the putting the smoke on and going vertical and vertical and vertical. Yeah..not scale.... but it will look cool....
