Default RE: Can I use an r/c car electrics in a boat

ORIGINAL: vito85

I still don't know what hull to buy. I assume it has to be a mono hull as I will be using just 1 motor. I don't want to buy an expensive hull as its gonna be my first rc boat. Any suggestions?
Hi Vito,

Assuming you're not all thumbs, making your own hull is also an option, there are a lot of free plans on the net.

What type of hull you need / want, depends on what conditions you'll be running it in; in a freshwater pond, you could go for a monohull, aswell as a cat.
Large bodies of water or sea asks for a monohull with a floodchamber, so it will selfright after a flip.

Keep in mind that car motors are considered medium size powerplants for boats, so don't make the hull too big, or too heavy. (45 cm, 18" and 1kg max! preferably lighter.)

A Crackerbox would work really well, powered by a car motor and free plans are available.

Regards, Jan.
