Default RE: Throttle adjustment problem

ORIGINAL: rv-4

Hi all,

First I'll start with my setup:
Model: Inspire 90 F3A
Motor: Hacker A50 12L
ESC: Jeti Advance 77 Opto Plus
prop: APC Electric Prop 16 x 10
Radio: Futaba 7CHP
Battery: Thunder Power eXtreme V2 8 cell 3850mAh

Now for the problem:
When I set all trimming to 0 on the radio I get a dead zone on the throttle up to 3/4. Only then it starts the motor.
When I raise the sub-trim to almost full, the motor starts at the beginning of the throttle travel.
Also, it looks like I get full power at half throttle.

There is no expo (set to 0) or end point (100%) settings for the throttle.

What could be the cause of such behaviour?

Maybe the controller is not set correctly.
What are the correct settings for it? (soft/hard timing etc.)

Many thanks for any response,
Sharon.
Sharon,

I believe you use the soft timing for the Hacker in-runners and hard timing for the outrunners.

The Jeti 77 Opto defaults to the following throttle pulse width timings when first powered up. Motor off = less than 1.1 ms Idle 1.1ms. High throttle = 1.8ms. To arm the controller it must see a pulse width of less than 1.1 ms. More about high throttle setting later.

On the Futaba radios, the throttle channel needs to be reversed for the Jeti to function correctly.

When the controller is initally powered up, it will give you one 'beep' followed by a series of 5 beeps if the throttle pulse width timing is less than 1.1ms. If it is more than 1.1 ms, the controller will not arm (no beep), this is a safety feature that won't let the controller arm if the throttle is not down to a certain point. Those following 5 beeps will give you an indication of timing and brake settings. See the Jeti manual (sheet) that came with the controller.

As far as throttle ATV settings, the Futaba should have about 75-80% ATV for full throttle for the 1.8ms timing and about 110% for low throttle. These are rough numbers and vary some with each radio.

For high throttle, you can leave your radio set to the 1.8ms timing via ATV or you can leave it at 100%. If you use 100% ATV for high throttle, you will have to do a full throttle run up to reset the default 1.8ms timing to the higher timing the controller will see at full throttle run up. I think you have to hold the throttle wide open 3 or more seconds to reset the high end, I can't remember exactly.

Try these setting and see how your ESC/motor behave.
