Default RE: getting the bug

icemonkey,
I had not heard the phrase treadheaditis coined before, but I can definitely relate, and all I can say, young man is RUN!!!! Run very fast, run very far, and don't look back, this hobby is a bottomless pit of buying and building, and it will suck you in. It is like quick sand the more you fight it the deeper you get sucked in.

I have only been in this hobby for about 2 years and I have gone head long. In the first two months of discovering this hobby, I was out of pocket over $1200 US, had buried nearly 60 hours of building time on my first projects, me and my buddy had started a club, procured land, designed a battlefield, started designing and constructing buildings and battlefield elements, and launched a website. Then we started the recruiting process to try and get new members to join.

2 years has gone by, and we now belong to "several" clubs including those in neighboring states that we travel too on a regular basis for battles. Host battles on our on field at least 4-5 times a year, continue to develop the field and the club, we now have 20 something members plus close to 40 tanks, and I can't begin to calculate the time or money invested.

This is a steep and slippery slope to a very deep rabbit hole. But I wouldn't trade it for anything, so don't even try to run you won't find another hobby with a greater group of people, I know I've tried!

Just to give you an idea, I now have a Tamiya Tiger 1, Tamiya Panther G, Tamiya Sherman, WSN/Trumpeter T-34 Convereted to and SU-85 with Tamiya electronics, Bandia Pz IV, and HL Pz III. Oh yeah, and as an added bonus those around me including my wife and teenage daughters think I'm completely off my rocker! (LOL)
