That's exactly what I do with mine. Sometimes, when I have fixed gear, I will route the tube down the inside of the gear wire with wire ties and let it blow excess out there. The downside is that your tires get filthy. The plus side is that it's your tires, and not your covering. You'll be surprised at how much oil and filth comes out of that tube in the course of a day's flying. It's more than a tiny bit. In either case, at least vent it somewhere to the outside. Don't let it collect on the firewall...
