Just for comparision, here is what I'm trying to replace. Note that I just measured it on my plane, and it's exactly 2.25".

Before you give up on the engine check a couple things, Check the pulse hole and make sure they are lined up good and there is a thin metal peace between the carb and engine, make sure it is not leaking air from there, Was told by a person today who knows engine inside and out that the engine is a good engine with some of the bugs worked out.

OK, I'll bite. Here's some clues - I was never able to get it to transition well, despite many tuning attempts. It ran like that for a while, then the ignition died and was replaced by RCS (I sent the whole engine in for that). It came back running the same way. About two years ago, it suddenly stopped idling properly, and remains that way despite repeted adjustments. Any ideas based on this from your friend?

I'll take a look at the things you've given me in the mean time.
