RE: AMA's Experimental Aircraft Process
Let's try it this way ... and it may be thus, I don't know the details of AMA's set up: There should be a detailed AMA check list to guide the inspector through the process, inside and outside the airframe. Each component is inspected and checked off. When complete, the inspector signs it with the statement, "I certify that this aircraft is in compliance with this AMA check list." A further statement should be included, saying: "The AMA certifies that aircraft complying with this check list are safe for flight." AMA thus bares the responsibility for the aircraft's safety. The inspector is only responsible for compliance with the check list. In our litigious society, this does not provide 100% protection, but it takes a large load off the inspector.
I agree with Jim, I would never certify an aircraft as airworthy, or safe to fly.
How do the turbine boys handle this issue?
My thoughts, anyway.
