Default Don Smith

Great thread guys. This is just the spark I need to rekindle the flame!

I too am preparing the construction of a Don Smith B-17, having purchased four new G-23's, Robart gear and those Glennnis wheels.
Dropped into Don's place and picked up the plastic accessory package and the correct cowlings from Brad Fuller.
Currently have 75% of the kit cut out.

I realize the 23's are an overkill and extensive cowl cutting is required (though not as much if you choose Bennett's exhaust diverter). My decision is solely based on a flying partner who has flown this combination for 3.5 years, logging hundreds of flights (Shoo Shoo Shoo Baby) in rain, 30 mph cross winds, dead engines, etc.

Weight (within reason) isn't much factor in it's flying characteristics. At 50 lbs. or 65lbs. one can still jog along side of it on landing.

Those Pk Props are supurb. I recently seen his scale version installed on a Ziroli Stuka. I understand the fellows from Fox Manufacturing can provide a phone numbers for PK.
