From Tower Hobbies description for that charger:

**This charges at a 5A rate and is NOT recommended for charging NiMH batteries. The charge rate is not adjustable on this model.**

It's best to use a peak charger.

That battery is also meant for the 5B so it has that Tamiya plug on it. I'm curious as to whether that battery is actually made of 2/3A cells or the bigger 4/5C cells which are bigger and won't fit in the radio box...
