I also used the bow and fishing line method. I spent 2 days throwing stuff at and trying to throw a twine and rope over... no luck.
about 5 days later I went out and bout a cheap bow and 40lb fishing line. Tied the line to the arrow, shot it and it caught the branch the plane was on, couple shakes and down came the slow stick.
