I guess I just didn't think of plywood. This is my first plane with retracts so I have no history with mounting them. I had leftover hard maple beams that I had used for the motor mounts so I just used what I saw first. I do plan to add plywood doublers to the ribs alongside the retract mounts. I want to do that after I get the retracts in place.

Thanks for the suggestion. Plywood would probably have been a better choice, but this is my third time installing the retracts so I am very anxious to move on to something else.

It won't be long and I will have to buy the radio. I keep watching Futaba and JR. I had expected that one or both of them would have had some sort of promotion by now. I guess that will happen a week after I buy a radio. I am considering the 10C and X9303. Neither is a CLEAR choice over the other so I thought a sales promotion would make the difference.
