Ed,
I have planned to use a separate battery for the radio gear and not run it off of the motor batteries.
You mentioned the glider mock-up. I believe that you are referring to the MotoCalc software that allows me to estimate the flight characteristics.
Here are the results of running my B-36 through MotoCalc8:
First, if the images are not readable when posting here, I will post them on b36.flugmodel.net in a few minutes.
The first image shows the wiring configuration that I have chosen.
The second image shows the parameters that I have fed MotoCalc8.
The results are only as good as what I input so these are my best estimates (or guesstimates) for now.
I don't really know what I will end up with for motor batteries but I have to start somewhere. I have indicated a 3S3P battery configuration. This results in 11.1 volts to the speed controllers and a total of 12,000 mah (12 ampere hours) of motor battery capacity.
The Empty Weight is the plane, minus the motors, minus the batteries, minus the speed controllers. Propeller weight is not mentioned.
Just for reference, the next image shows the B-36 NOT flying. You might say it shows the B-36 taking off. At air speeds 1-7 MPH the prop is actually stalled (red text). At 8-23 MPH the B-36 is rolling but not airborne. 23 MPH is the calculated stall speed for this plane.
This would be a good place to show my estimates for Lift/Drag and airfoil. I could probably spend some time to get this a bit more accurate. This is shown in the fourth image.
The next four images show the flight characteristics with 100% throttle, 90% throttle, 80% throttle, and 70% throttle.
The next four images are graphs of air speed, lift, and motor efficiency. These are also for 100% throttle, 90%, 80% and 70%.
The final image is a review of the plane. I have exceed the limit on the number of images that I can upload so that will be in the next post.
As I mentioned previously, if these images don't view well on this website, I will upload them in a few minutes and post here when the upload is complete.
