Default RE: Help Tail pipe distorted/melted ???

ORIGINAL: lookilook

hi,

unfortunately i am the one who melted 3 tailpipes by fej on my fej f16 and yet dont know the reason .as you can see from the pictures taken damage is huge.already thrown 2 of them in the dustbin but i hold the third as damage is less and at the front only and i am thinking of making one ground run with this installed and see what happens.thanks to chris (wren rep in cyprus) he gave me new pump-ecu-and an mw-54 to eliminate possibilities of faulty items.
length of the tailpipe(dualwall) is 58cm without bellmouth.outer pipe extends past inner pipe by 1.5cm .

TAM,if you can make one for me reply to my topic or pm me.

anyone with suggestions as to why this has happened be my guest!!

rgds NIK
Hey NIK,

Yes this is exactly what happened to me. My first FEJ F 16 pipe per pic melted badly. I have since found out another FEJ F 16 owner in Australia had a completed collapse. Lucky it happened on the ground and not in the air. The inner pipe total collapse with the same engine as mine Falcon 100 and caused a huge fire ball which blistered paint and singed turbine tubes and wires etc. The gasses backe up and came out the hatch. Luck the hatch was of as it was a ground test.

Well;

I got a replacement pipe at Temora. I installed this and melted my SECOND FEJ pipe. My first pipe was .1mm thick. The second was .2mm thick. This was acheived by wrapping 2 layers of .1mm on the inner wall. I think one .2mm thick is better than 2 layers of .1mm as it still distorted like tin foil.

So with no options left I flew the F 16 for the maiden and certification flight. VERY risky but I got away with it touch wood. Yes I was stressing about a pipe collapse the whole flight[X(]

So Tam can you make us some new pipes please???? I will send you the exact dimensions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers, Mav
