Hardly. Hitec actually make some very good servo's. They are very popular in the large scale plane scene. A lot of car guys use their top end servos too (me included).
I use prodomently JR and Hitec servo's. Out of the hitec servo's I use they are mostly the top end servo's and have never had a problem with them and would happily buy more.
Maybe you had a bad experience with a Hitec servo but to just say that all Hitec servo's are no good is just plain wrong and very misleading to any guys starting out.
