Exactly. Thank you
snap it.
"candy coat" how an engine runs.... how ridiculous!
For those of you following this mess, here are the airplanes I have flying on Gas/Glow.
Twist 60 3D with Super Tiger .90
Katana 140 (72" span) with Echo 23.6cc
GP Fokker Triplane with Echo 23.6cc
CMP Tiger Moth biplane (78" span) with Ryobi 31cc
GP Giant Big Stik with 48cc twin homemade from Echo 23.6cc engines.
The Giant Stik was also flown for a year with a Poulan 42cc on Gas/Glow.
Once again, no glow power needed after starting.
This is a fairly large investment in airplanes, and I love each one of them. If I didn't trust Gas/Glow to fly them, I certainly wouldn't use it and risk losing one of my nice planes.
I have also converted some Stihl and Homelite engines to Gas/Glow for friends and family and they run fine and they are happy with them.
If your mixture is way off, you will need glow power on until you get close to the correct mixture, just like a pure glow engine. Once you get close, turn off the glow power and finish your tuning. And remember, wait until the engine is completely warmed up before trying to tune. As stated in the Walbro tuning literature, a slightly richer than "ideal" idle setting will often be required for good transition. I find this to be even more true with Gas/Glow, but there are no other "tricks" to making one run.
Nuff said.
