I think PIO is Pilot induced osc...[8D] but I may be wrong. Yes, the F18 pilots have their hands on the rim of the cockpit due to huge G forces on take off. The rudders being towed in is to aid in rotation on take off!!

I had crow on my skymaster F18E/F and it worked great but you must keep tons of throttle on landing. Like Raffy said, flaperons may get you in trouble... The F18F (SM and Tam's) fly very well and slow down on landings, just keep power on final and play with AOA for touch down...
