RE: Need first gas engine for this plane
My bad I didnt realise the zenoahs were still that heavy. The evolutions are good engines though, they are just rebadged MVVS and are one of the higher quality gas rc engines. The only problems with evolutions is price and they are made to run on a pipe so if you dont use one your giving up a good amount of power. The user friendly stuff prolly has to do with some of the advanced features the ignition has. These features are optional though and if you dont feel like messing with them dont. I didnt use any of the auto start crap on my evolution 58 and it starts and runs great setup like a normal engine.
If you go gas you are gonna have to sacrifice something in this size, either weight or power. The lightweight 26's are kinda low on power for 10pound plane and the ones that are making enough power for 10pounds wiegh a bit more then there equal powered glow counterparts, but remember you wont need to carry as much fuel so the weight will get offset some. There is a vid in the wildhare forums of a 25% with a 3w 28 on it AND a smoke system that weighs 12 pounds and still flys great and has tons of power. The 3w28 might be a good option for you as well although its not exactly cheap either. If I was you I would go with the slightly heaver engine that makes good power over a lighter one that will leave you wanting more power. I almost went with the 3w28 for my wildhare but didnt because of weight. I think looking back now if I would of I would still be running that engine and would of never went back to glow for it[:@]
