Hey Cratecruncher,
I'v recently learned something about some of the older high performance engines I thought I'd share with you. I recently bought a NIB Rossi Fire 61RE with a new header and tuned pipe and according to the literature that came with the motor, it will turn an 11x8 APC at over 18,000 RPM on only 5% nitro. Which is good new to me, especially with the price of fuel these days.
I also have a pumped K&B61 that I haven't run yet. I did replace the bearings though. This is the motor I'm going to put in my Dirty Birdy 60 if I ever get the time to build it. Routine maintenance on high performance 2-strokes is a must, if you want them to last. I'll let the experts here on RCU elaborate on this topic so I can learn along with you.
I'm going to keep checking back on your thread. I'm always eager to learn more about older high performance engines myself.
