so what was shorty's secret to the enya?
When he first told me, I thought he was nuts and I was afraid to do it because those chrome Enyas are expensive. But, after flying it a while and not getting any kind of stellar results, I tried it. Tune it leaner than you would an ABC engine. That's it and it works.
Now, I'm talkiing about AAC Enya engines and nothing else. Try it with the others and you can damage them, but the AAC Enyas really honk when tuned leaner than an ABC or ringed engine. It is the metallurgy of the liner and the piston being made of the same material. They maintain their fit, even when peaked optimally.
Shorty was told by the importer who was told by someone at the Enya factory, and it worked (1984). I've bought many an Enya AAC engine for cheap since then because the owners were not aware of this and did not ever discover just how strong these engines really are when ran this way. And no sagging either. That's it.
