Your right about the fail safe, but if your lose of signel lasts that long I would still think there is still a problem.

I had a problem with a rx and jitters, I had the rx too close to the esc and bat. wires.

I have been putting my 2.4 rx's back away from the motors and elect as fare as I can.

The motor or elect can block signel to the ant. on the RX. I am not saying any of this is your problem, just things I do.
