RE: U2 Spyplane
That's a good call going with a different airfoil. Aspect ratio, taper ratio, and low reynolds number all combine to make tip stall quite likely. Combine that with airfoils that weren't designed for this regime and it could be ugly. I may use the current wing set I have if they have some washout, but if I cut new ones I'll definitely use a low Re airfoil at the tip, and either get some aerodynamic or geometric washout in the mix. The fuse mold has me stuck with the airfoil at the root, but it's alot less critical there.
I'd be interested to see everyone's gear installs. I will be designing that area myself. I know it's all got to wedge in between ducting. 'Course if I go with the turbine, inlet ducting would not be necessary.
Also, with the tail heavy condition, can I ask what you did for elevator & rudder servos? Are they in the pod-let above the exhaust? In the fins? What type/mfr/ strength?
Conversion to turbine could make the tail heavy problem worse with a steel pipe back there.
I-nav - looks like yours has the fuselage mounted speed brakes. How bout some detail? Where were your tail servos?
