with ur radio u would have to turn the radio and receiver off to change crystals. Your radio is just fine cause I believe u can do end point adjustments and store up to three model settings which is not bad. If you purchase 2-3 sets of crystals you should be fine for racing at a track.
Hitec sells a progammer for their servos. This is the only way to take advantage of the fail/safe functions. I have digital hitec as my steering servo and have no need to program it. A fail safe only costs around $35-40 vice the cost of the programmer which is over $150. I'll pass.
