frequencies are only illegal if you use ones not specified for use by the FCC. i know this because i use all of the illegal frequencies in my micro rcs 27(legal), 35, 40, 45, 49(legal), 50, and 57. i think the 'subfrequencies' things are called channels, you are allowed to change channels, but not frequencies.
