Default RE: FEJ Customer Voting

Somebody should try to revitalize the old D/L series of planes. There was a Cyclone III sport jet kit that was good looking and a fantastic flyer. It could be flown as a ducted fan or turbine jet. I mean one kit could be changed from d/f to turbine and back to d/f if wanted. The conversion took about 30 minutes. I saw the plane flown as turbine, landed and converted to d/f and flown in 35 minutes. It had a large hatch areas that ran from the nose to the strake of the vertical fin that allowed fantastic access and provided lots of room. It would be perfect for EDF use to day as well as turbines from 10-20+ lbs fo thrust. The wingspan was around 60", fiberglass fuse with balsa covered foam wings, and weighed in the 11lb plus range, depending on power source.
D/L also designed and kitted an MB339 kit, before the kit was built overseas and marketed by Cermark. Again, it was a geat flyer and the D/L kit did not have the problems of the Cermak version that was changed to accomodate mass production. This kit would be great for the smaller turbines as well as the new EDF stuff.
D/L also had a small scale F20 and a beautiful smaller MiG 21 that was flying, but never put into production. Both of these would be great for the 10- 19 small case turbines available today, as wll as EDF.
