That's cool that you have something like that to remember your dad by. I lost my father last year so I kinda know how you feel. Time will make it less painful but you'll NEVER get over it. You might consider silkspan and dope with a Urethane finish. A bit lighter than 'glass. I might do my VF-3s that way. My V2 has Monokote on the wings and stab's. It looks good but there's nothing like a fully painted airplane!
