I believe it is pretty easy to reverse one. I think you only have to purchase and install a new cam shaft setup for backward rotation. However on the full size P-38 with its counter rotating props, the designers made it where both engines were "critical". So, in short if you do make one counter rotate, make them both turn outward (opposite of the full scale). I am not sure how much difference it would make on a model airplane, but you can use all the help you can get in an engine out situation.
