Default RE: OS Max 40 FP question

I have a 12 year old FP40 that sat on the motor mount of my never used trainer for all those years hanging from the floor joists. Never ran it. I put some 12 year old (opened to smell it when new) 10% fuel in it and it started right up. My instructor thought the engine was 'abused' but we puttered along with my training anyway. When the 10% was gone I bought a gallon of fresh 15% and wow....what an amazing difference. I had to learn how to fly it all over again. The thought that the engine had been abused is long gone now. That second gallon is about 3/4 gone and I hope to finish it off this year. By the way, I was signed off after 8 sessions of about 4 flights each and the plane survived nicely, it's an old Hangar 9 Easy Fly 40. I owe my success and the plane's longevity to my instructor. Thanks again Fran.
