Default RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD

Evil Merlin- "Totally Unrealistic"? I agree, it is not a perfect paint scheme by a long shot, but it is not that far off. Ok, the crosses on the wings are pathetic (changed them), the number on the fuse is the wrong color yellow, but I have seen many profiles not too far off from the scheme the plane comes with (even though the actual plane did not likely exist). I had intentions to repaint this plane when I got it, but I thought it looked pretty good and could not justify all that work. If your after an excellent scale model there are other problems you will face besides a scheme that is questionable. The wheels will look too small no matter what you do, The exhaust stacks are a bit large, and the scoops and some of the molded in details are from a G model, while the canopy is from an F. Even If I wanted to repaint it, I would just paint over the stock paint and coat the final product with Polyurethane. I have done so with a few CMP planes with excellent results.

I would not be afraid to take the plane to any fun scale meet and will have no fear of someone calling it "totally unrealistic."
