Highhorse,
Thanks for the reply in my defense. I'm a big boy with plenty of internet experience and with such little knowledge of the RC world perhaps my question was much lamer than I realize but my skin is tough.
In response to how I *knew* it was going over 200, I didn't know and I believe stated it "appeared" to be. I am barely more of a photographer than an RC hobbyist but I do know that scale, distance, etc can all impact appearances which is why I posted the original question (which as far as I could decipher through the sarcasm has yet to be answered). Perhaps the legal restrictions hinder a straightforward answer?
I did try and google the question rather than post to a forum and subject myself to the ridicule of a forum full of enthusiasts, but the information seemed contradictory. I noticed a few posts of people who claimed their jets easily exceeded 300mph, while I found no governing body claiming anything verified and close to those speeds, hence the question.
I did visit the field once with my camera and was greeted by a friendly group including a jet pilot who was kind enough to invite me out to the runway area and allowed me to stand next to him to shoot some pictures. At that time my curiosity about speeds was outweighed by my glee watching.
I guess I'll just go back out to the field where my questions were met with smiles and enthusiasm and ask there.
Sorry to have asked what I thought was a basic question. I did do a forum search first hoping not to disturb the membership and thanks again to highhorse for not being on one...
Joe
