What size pinion should I use with a mamba 4200kv motor? I have to order some pinions and people say you can gear the 4200 pretty high, they will be in both my mini t and my 18t so anyone with both could you give me some advice.
Keep in mind that all that gearing does generally is control how quick off the line the car is (using a smaller pinion) while allowing it longer to get up to top speed (using a larger one), but that gearing should always be chosen relative to the area or track you're running so as to basically be able to reach top speed somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 of the way down your straightaway of choice. For racing, using that motor, I generally use 13/60 in my Mini-T and 11 or 12/60 in my 18T on 1/18th-sized tracks. Going to a larer pinion only makes the trucks pigs off the starting line.
