Default RE: Extreme Flight Jeremy Chinn Yak-55SPs build thread

ORIGINAL: Dave McDonald

I'm running Futaba 9252 with a Tower TS-53 on the throttle. Battery is a 6 volt 900 NiMH built from 5 AAA Energizer cells that came from WalMart.

Standard servos on 6 volts should work OK for general 3D flying (hovers, harriers, etc.), but for aggressive 3D flying (pinwheels, snap rolls, etc.), I'm not sure standard servos will have enough speed and torque.

I think you are probably right. The more I have worked on this plane and seen how huge the control surfaces are I realize I am going to need some more grunt. I bought a set of Spektrum (JR) DS821 Digitals for my GP Reactor and they are a great bargain and they have alot of power for the price. You can normally pick up a set of four off eBay for less that $100. I think Iam just going to assemble it right now with the standards then upgrade later.
