Why do we need the turtle deck for?
Does it contribute anything to the flight characteristics of the airplane?

I built sig mid stars, four stars and now GP ultra sport 60 all got turtle decks and canopies, and let me tell you these canopies are a source of complications and trouble, scratches, hard to mount them clean, oil can get there, difficulties during covering not to mention the drag and weight.

I understand canopy and turtle deck adds beauty and realism to the airplane but if that’s their only contribution maybe a bubble canopy is beautiful enough.
