Default RE: To BEC or not to BEC?

Battery Eliminator Circuitry is not the better option in all cases. In the past no serious racer used the BEC because they bled through too much motor interference and caused serious glitching. Using a dedicated receiver pack (not a "BEC" pack) eliminated that problem. Also older BECs did not supply enough current for the more powerful servos, a 5-cell receiver pack does.

Most serious racers still use a dedicated receiver pack, but the newer opto-BECs claim not to have the issues seen in the past. If they can supply a full 6 volts and 5 amps to the servos then I might try one, otherwise I'll keep my receiver packs thank you.
