I voted 4-5k just as a guess as to what I have and its worth, that should be close. But I don't feel I have any money invested it the hobby as I was trying to quit smoking and needed something to do with my hands and time. My wife and I decided I could spend my smoking money on anything I wanted. My smoking money back then was about $20 a week, but it added up.
So over the last 20 years, between buying selling making a few bucks from the hobby and my smoking money I don't think I have spent anything on the hobby.

Question , someone said there are cheaper hobbys. I am not sure there are many as challanging and rewarding as this. The other thing a person can come in and spend around $500 to $1000 and fly for a long time with little more expense if thats what they want or you can go "the sky's the limit".

I could buy a $20 K snow moble or $20k Harly, much cheaper!!!!
